It’s time to break the traditional Michigan model of voting behavior.
That was my guiding line when I started building this system.
As a political science student, I realized that the endless loop of "you vote based on what you were raised" won’t stop on its own. The only way to challenge it is by giving people real tools, especially for those who don’t come from a deep background in politics.
Therefore, I built a system that analyzes your answers and uncovers the patterns behind them. through simple and everyday scenarios and clear choices, it translates your instincts into a political profile showing you where you actually stand, not just where you think you do.

?Where Do I Stand
Honestly, it’s exactly what it sounds like.
The first question that comes up when you realize you don’t really know where you stand.Am I left?
Center?
Maybe I’m actually right? And if I’m being real, how would I even know?

Political views can feel worlds apart like distant points on a globe.
But some of them are closer to you than you realize.

The system works in a simple way:
It’s time to move on from boring quizzes and outdated questionnaires.
Here, a chatbot actually talks to you and asking questions through everyday scenarios to understand what you truly think about different issues.
But behind the scenes, it’s more sophisticated.
The system uses a delta-based method we developed, assigning values to different political positions and extreme scenarios.
As you answer more questions, your responses gradually move you closer to or further from different political sides.
To keep things as accurate as possible, the system is trained on up-to-date party platforms and public statements from candidates, allowing it to map your views against real political positions.
The entire system was built using Base 44, enabling rapid development and a fully interactive chatbot experience.

System

While the question “Where do I stand politically?” constantly comes up (especially among people who feel confused or unrepresented by today’s politicians) I realized I had to go back hundreds of years.
To build something meaningful, I turned to the philosophical foundations of thinkers like Karl Marx, John Locke, John Stuart Mill, Thomas Hobbes, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and Niccolò Machiavelli to analyze the core ideas at their root.
This allows the system to go beyond rigid political labels.
I mean, someone can actually support capitalism, liberal values, and social welfare and still find their place, Just like someone can prioritize national security over individual freedom, while still supporting diplomatic agreements.
The goal is to reflect the complexity of real people and to not force them into labels.

The questions themselves are built on an ordinal scale from strong disagreement to strong agreement but framed in a natural, situational way.
For example:
The cost of living in Israel is high. The question is: what should the government’s role be in solving it?
What should the state do?
🏛️ Strong intervention - regulate prices, subsidize housing and food
⚖️ Targeted intervention - step in where the market fails, like housing and healthcare
🏪 Reduce regulation - remove barriers and let the market operate
🚀 Fully free market - competition alone will bring prices down
↩️ I changed my mind - go back to the previous question
The more nuanced the options, the more accurately people can express their views. After all, politics isn’t black and white and the system is built to reflect that.
At any point, you can go back and change your answers if you rethink your position. And based on your responses, the system provides real-time feedback, so it doesn’t feel like you’re talking to a bot, but to something that actually understands you and helps you figure things out.
Content
From a UI perspective, it was very important for me to create a sense of progress and momentum.
A progress wizard at the top shows users how far they’ve come, along with percentage indicators while keeping them engaged and preventing fatigue, Just one step away from discovering something about themselves.
Visual elements? play a key role.
Incorporating familiar faces, like party leaders, helps place users inside the political landscape, without forcing explicit labels like "right" or "left".
In the end, this isn’t just a quiz.
It’s a system designed to help you understand politics, through yourself.
And what about the results?
Right after you complete all the questions, the system analyzes everything you’ve answered and builds a precise profile of your political identity.
It shows your overall approach and where you stand across key axes conservative vs. liberal, security vs. peace, capitalist vs. socialist giving you a clear, structured view of your positions.
At the bottom of the page, you’ll find a visual scale that maps your position and preferences whether you lean toward peace over conflict, tradition over secularism, and more.
Maybe this didn’t tell you anything you didn’t already know.
But maybe it helped you discover something new about yourself.
